In Episode 20 of eCommerce Uncensored, Jason and Kevin of Fast Forward Unlimited offer up some tips on how to structure the most effective Facebook ad to drive traffic to your blog. Podcast Episode 18 & Episode 19 explained why blogs are such an important marketing tool for your eCommerce business, so be sure you check those episodes out to learn more on the topic.

So your awesome blog is up and now you want to run some Facebook ads. Remember these points before you start paying for those clicks…

  1. Who is your actual audience? – Don’t waste money by targeting the wrong person! Facebook gives you so many ways to define and refine your target, so do your research. Remember, your target is the person who is actually going to take out their wallet and buy your product, so it may not be as direct as you think.
  2. Grab their attention with the post text – captivate your reader with a post that will stop the scrolling. Answer a question, empathize with a problem they have, or offer valuable information, to make that person want to click on your blog post.
  3. Image is everything…or is it? – Use an image that will catch the eye, even while mindlessly scrolling. Just remember, as good as the image may be, the title and info you are sharing is what is really going to get them to click on your post.
  4. Use your heading wisely – Facebook gives you a place to add more text under your image…don’t waste that space. You can use that text to give your reader some more info about the blog, but don’t just copy and paste what you already have.
  5. Don’t forget the button – entice people to read your blog by using a customized button. The guys find that the “Learn More” button is successful.

Here’s a diagram of a Facebook ad so you see what the guys are talking about.

Be smart in how you structure your Facebook ad. It’s a great way to drive a lot of additional traffic to your eCommerce site, fairly inexpensively.
